Per°Form Open Academy of Arts and Activations (POA) is the live gathering of Per°Form Fellows from the Global South — Africa, Arab world, Asia, and South America. These Fellows, intersectional practitioners across diverse disciplines of activism, lm, fashion, design, curation, research, education, visual culture, spoken word, performance, will present their strategies for activating contexts and communities.
Per°Form is conceptualised and led by T:>Works Artistic Director, Dr. Keng Sen Ong. It redefines an academy by embracing an openness which opposes hierarchical learning, refuses elite membership and ultimately unpacks the institution into a porous space.
CoThink Lab in its ethos presents thought leadership from independent Singapore artists, cultural workers, writers, curators, and scientists. This fellowship platform began in April 2021 through the format of digital keynotes by Singapore Fellows who are at the forefront of research and/or activating local communities. This has since developed into diverse formats.
As the Singapore companion to the Per°Form Open Academy, Per°Form CoThink Lab focuses on the practitioner as a thought leader engaged between multiple locals and the international, actively bridging histories, the precarious present, and world-creating. It is conceptualised and led by T:>Works Artistic Director, Dr. Ong Keng Sen.
Artistic Directors Academy (ADA), led by T:>Works Artistic Director Ong Keng Sen, is a research laboratory to develop Artistic Directors, harnessing international cultural innovators to helm Modules, as well as individual mentoring to sharpen and intensify skillsets.
ADA focuses on giving perspectives to existing and potential Artistic Directors who wish to facilitate creative platforms, collectives, engagement projects, companies, venues, and festivals. ADA is a curriculum-based capacity development project where T:>Works will share its immense skills in the international field, translating international developments to artistic positions in the local context, and therefore opening up creative avenues internationally whilst being based locally.
The Curators Academy is concerned with the curation of performance but intends to move beyond the skills of curation, unlike conventional training programmes in European universities.
Its emphasis is on developing a context when there is little or none, for ‘growing’ performance which engages and interrogates the politics of the local, the site. The first recognition of the Academy is that very often, curators need to cultivate a scene of processes between their public intellectuals, artists, audiences and civil society, to construct a scene and its own specifics.
